Contrato de Trabalho - Staff Researcher - Targeted Magnetic Theranostics of Ageing-related Diseases







The selected candidate will join ongoing projects in the area of diagnostics and therapy and develop novel advanced (magnetic) functional nanostructures for theranostics of cancer and ageing-related diseases. This will involve the synthesis and physico-chemical characterization of nanostructures, their targeted surface functionalization, the assessment of their theranostic performance and the in vitro/in vivo pre-clinical validation (toxicity, ADME, etc.), filling as far as possible the gap between the benchtop and the clinics. All these tasks will be mostly framed into the context of the available biomedical technologies in place, such as MRI and magnetic hyperthermia. The selected applicant is also expected to participate in project planning and to collaborate in supervision tasks within the research team. Habilitações: PhD

Experiência: over 5 years of active research after PhD in advanced nanostructured diagnosis/therapy/theranostics platforms and their validation in pre-clinical environments. Candidates with an exceptional CV but shorter research careers will also be considered, outstanding theory knowledge and experimental skills on the following areas: synthesis of nanostructures (metal transition oxides, metallic nanoparticles, quantum dots, inorganic-organic hybrids, etc.), physico-chemical characterization (chemical, morphological, structural, magn, contrasted experience in cell culturing and biological assays (cellular imaging, cell labelling, cell viability, haemolysis, etc). In vivo experience will be highly evaluated, fundamental knowledge and practical expertise in magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic hyperthermia. Experience in other imaging-based medical diagnosis and therapy technologies will be also valued, hands-on experience in drug carrier/delivery systems and mathematical release modelling will be also considered. The candidate is expected to have experience in production of technical and scientific documentation and planning of project proposals, applicants are also expected to have high quality publications in international journals and to be competitive in obtaining external research funding and applicants with international mobility experience will be highly evaluated.
